Hey, another day, another bag letter! This time Pump Audio dot calm has sent one along, rather quickly, which is appreciated…
"Hello,
Thank you for your interest in Pump Audio. We have received your uploaded tracks and at this time we are declining your music to be green lit for submission.
We receive hundreds of submissions each month and need to be very selective as to what we can place in our catalog.
Check out our list of Musical Don'ts to see why your music might have been rejected.
We encourage you to continue making music; however we ask that you wait 3 months to re-submit any new work to be green lit.
Thanks and good luck in all your musical endeavors.
The Pump Audio Team"
So I took a look at their 'Musical Dont's' page to see what part of my music was not in compliance:
- Poor production quality and/or recording techniques (Never!)
- Unbalanced mixes (No way!)
- Too much reverb/effects/compression (Not a chance!)
- Unintended distortion – clipping – mix is too hot (Nope…)
- Poor musicianship/performances (Please…)
- Singing out of tune/playing out of tune (All singing and playing is severely in tune…)
- Unlicensed samples (Nope…)
- Blatant copyright infringement, or anything considered "too close" (Too close to what?)
- Anything racist or otherwise bigoted or offensive (Not even slightly…)
- Noisy or hissy elements within the mix (No hissing here…)
- Poor signal to noise ratio (SNR is maxed…)
- Sounds like stock music (As in soup?)
- Synthesized/programmed drum sounds on otherwise acoustic songs (Nothing distinguishable…)
- Dated sounds (By who's calendar?)
- Poor synth/electronic sounds/textures (Textures are all top-notch…)
- Poor composition, whether intended or not (Composition is all top-notch…)
- Using or even thinking about using the chorus effect (Ooooh… some chorus is present, this must be it…)
- Use of lo-fi/compressed drum breaks in Country songs (No country for my tunes…)
- One word: keytar (I can only wish…)
- Touching the whammy bar in a weird and inappropriate manner (No whammy bars in my arsenal…)
It must have been the chorus…
