Inspired by my time spent in the wonderfully wacky world that is the great state of Utah, my four minute and thirty second (hopefully) rock jam entitled Missionary Mosh will be aired on Pluto Radio's Unsung show, episode double aught and fourteen. Thanks Lee Crisman and Stalker Kimmy.
Missionary Mosh started life with the title "Mo Fo Fo Fo Yo Mo Fo" and couples a very simple two step drum line with a pseudo-punk\metal riff. The core idea was to put an over-dramatic riff and guitar solo over the top of a plodding and somewhat monotonous beat. I tried to keep the rhythm bouncing just enough to not let the overall energy of the song get out of hand. So the song is always constrained by the simply beat and the tight snare sound. Think missionary mosh…
Guitar was most likely a Korean Ibanez 6-string through a Johnson J-Station. Bass was most likely a Korean Ibanez 4-string through a Johnson J-Station. Drums provided by Smart Loops.
Anyway, enjoy it! I won't, at around high noon LA time I'll be snaking my way through the twisted back roads of the Catskill mountains like an angry intestinal virus. I'll have to listen to a re-run.
UNSUNG 0014 IS GOING UP WED JAN 19TH AT 12 noon (that's L.A. time)
WILL PLAY IN A 3 HOUR ROTATION THROUGHOUT THE NEXT DAY

White Fluorescent Tubes
I write these lyrics hurriedly
My boss will soon be watching me
Peering over shoulder
And sneering at my words
My lungs are filled with filtered air
And my coffee is black as crude
My tupperware is sealed up tight
To isolate my food
I said goodbye to the world outside
And goodbye to the night
And now I live under a sky that's filled
With white fluorescent tubes
This chair has curved my spine
Into ergonomic design
As the world beyond my desktop screen
Fades until I'm blind
Solo
I said goodbye to the world outside
And hello to the burning light
Of a sky that's filled
With calibrated white fluorescent…
